Refund & Cancellation Policy

How cancellations and refunds work for Espeya Plus, for paid event tickets, and for registration deposits. Written to match what our billing system actually does, so nothing here is a promise we cannot keep.

2. Espeya Plus

Cancelling a subscription

Cancel from your account at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, which means:

  • you keep Plus for every day you have already paid for;
  • you are not charged again;
  • there is no pro-rata refund for the remainder of the period. This is deliberate — you keep the product instead of the money back.

One thing worth knowing before you cancel: our payment provider cannot restart a cancelled subscription. Coming back means starting a new one, which is quick but is not the same subscription resumed.

Refunds on Plus

If Plus was not what you expected, email us within 30 days of the charge and we will refund it. After 30 days we cannot process a refund through our payment provider, so the answer will be no; cancel instead and you will not be charged again.

We will refund without argument when:

  • you were charged twice for the same thing;
  • you were charged after cancelling, or charged an amount that does not match the price you were shown;
  • a Plus feature you bought it for was unavailable for a sustained period and we could not fix it.

Refunds are issued to the original payment method — we cannot send them anywhere else. Once we submit a refund it usually lands in 5 to 10 working days, depending on your bank; the last leg is out of our hands. Any GST charged on an Indian sale is refunded with it.

Failed renewals

If a renewal fails, your access continues to the end of the period you already paid for, and our provider retries for a few days. Nothing is charged twice and there is nothing to refund. We will email you when a renewal fails and again if it is finally unsuccessful. Indian card and UPI mandates may need you to approve the debit yourself — see Terms of Service, section 6.

3. Paid event tickets

The host sets the refund terms for their own event, not Espeya. We provide the ticketing; the host is the organiser. Check the event page before you buy — a host who offers no refunds should say so there.

What we guarantee regardless of what a host says:

  • Host cancels the event — you get a full refund of the ticket price.
  • The event moves to a date or place that does not work for you — you may request a full refund.
  • We sold you a seat that did not exist. If two people pay for the last spot at the same moment, the later payment is placed on the waitlist and refunded automatically, without you asking.
  • You were charged the wrong amount. If the amount paid does not match the order, we never issue the ticket — the payment is refunded automatically.
  • You paid twice. Duplicate payments are refunded automatically.

Beyond those cases, refund requests go to the host, who can approve a full or partial refund within 30 days of your purchase. Either you or the host can start the request; we process it. After 30 days no refund is technically possible, because our payment provider closes the window on the original payment — so do not sit on it.

Espeya’s platform fee is refunded along with the ticket. Payment-processing charges already incurred may not be recoverable on a partial refund, in which case the shortfall is borne by the host, not deducted from what you get back.

4. Registration deposits

Some hosts ask for a refundable deposit to cut no-shows. Turn up and get scanned in, and the deposit is refunded automatically — you do not need to ask. Do not turn up, and the host keeps it, which is the entire point of the mechanism and is disclosed on the event page before you pay.

5. How to ask for a refund

  1. Email [email protected] from the address on the order.
  2. Tell us what to look for: the event name or plan, roughly when you paid, and the amount. An order or payment reference from your receipt makes it fastest.
  3. Say briefly what went wrong. For a ticket, we will pass the request to the host if the decision is theirs.

We aim to acknowledge within 2 working days and to decide within 7 working days. If we say no, we will tell you why.

6. Chargebacks

Please talk to us before disputing a charge with your bank. A chargeback freezes the payment, costs the host, and takes far longer than an email to us. If you do raise one, we may suspend the related access or ticket while the dispute is open, and a chargeback found in our favour does not entitle you to a further refund.

7. Things that are not refundable

  • Any purchase more than 30 days old.
  • The unused remainder of a Plus period you cancelled part way through.
  • Tickets for an event that happened and that you chose not to attend.
  • Purchases made to abuse the platform, or where the account is suspended for a breach of the Terms of Service.

Your statutory rights come first. If the law where you live gives you a stronger cancellation or refund right — including the EU and UK right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days, or your rights under India’s Consumer Protection Act, 2019 — that right applies and this policy does not reduce it.
